2009 and roaring right on…

January 30, 2009

Wow, Christmas and New Year’s rushed right by, but not without totally enjoying every single moment.  That’s history.

You can read the rest of my history on our LOGOI website, since the main letter is by yours truly and right on the front page.  www.logoi.org

But, before you go, here are a couple of 2009 photos to let you know I’ve not been sitting around too much.

Curtains: miles of fabric

I made new curtains for our family room/kitchen.  It’s never as easy as you think but hey!  They’re simple and they’re up and we are glad to have curtains again.

Grandpa helped David (15) get a new baseball bat for this season.  He didn’t much care for the old red spongy one.  He’s Mr. Sportsman if you ask me:  varsity football QB, varsity basketball first string, and now we’ll see where he goes with varsity baseball.  Grandpa and I can hardly stand it if we miss a game of whatever season.

OK.  That’s it!  I’ve been trying to get this posted all of 2009!  Now click on over to see the rest of my family news.

See  ya!

My second blog!  Wowee! I still have a lot to learn, but Ed says this is the way to go.  We’ll see…  Of course, if you will write back, I’ll believe it is working!

This month, we’re packing to go to Cuba!  26 of us are going to go visit the place where my husband, Les, was born and raised.  Les’s father began a Bible school and 80 years later, there is a main seminary, over 300 churches, and thousands of people who have come to know the Lord.  The seminary is having a big 80th anniversary celebration and five of the six Thompson children will be there, along with some grandchildren, great grandchildren, LOGOI board members and friends.  It will be a wonderful time for all of us.  Some of Les’s siblings have never been back to their birthplace!

Meanwhile, here in our Miami office, I got another box in the mail.  A lady I’ve never met read about our wedding dresses.  She was at her cleaners and they were selling unclaimed ones — so she thought about LOGOI, bought all four of them and sent them down!  Isn’t that amazing? Brides in Latin America — here we come!

One more thing:  I NEED YOUR HELP! Do you know anyone who would like to help us translate sermons from English to Spanish?   We would pay a little, but we’re calling it “paid volunteer” — so no one will get rich.  It would be a special ministry.  Right now I have two wonderful ladies helping me clean up Spanish sermons from a collection of 8 sermon books.  The scanner didn’t do a very good job and so we have to clean them up.  What a great help they are and maybe there are some more of you out there who can help.  Let me know.  I’ll be waiting…
